The Program for the Development of the Judicial System Association started implementation of the service "Developing Unified Procedures for Legal Aid /judicial phase/ and of Clear Criteria and Approaches to Admissibility of Legal Aid /judicial phase/ for persons under Art. 22 of the Legal Aid Act, including for persons from vulnerable groups and development of a mechanism for the official collection of information on the social status of the eligible persons" under Project BG05SFOP001-3.001-0020 "Strategic Reforms in the National Bureau for Legal Aid ".
The team of PDJS experts will develop and submit to the National Bureau of Legal Aid Practical manual containing procedures for providing legal aid from courts; procedures for providing legal aid by the Bar Councils in relation to their obligations under Art. 18 of the Legal Aid Act; criteria and approaches in the admissibility of legal aid by the court in all types of cases and legal aid, including by types of consumer groups under Art. 22 of the Legal Aid Act, as well as a mechanism for the official collection of information on the social status of the entitled persons. The results will contribute to the improvement of legal aid in terms of procedures for its provision and in terms of enhancing the quality of legal aid provided by lawyers, by increasing the requirements, raising the level of citizens' satisfaction with legal aid and their credibility with the institute of the defense counsel.
The contract is implemented under the Operational Program "Good Governance" 2014-2020, co-funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund (ESF).
